No doubt about it: Halloween is a fabulously fun holiday, especially for children who come home with a bag of candy after a night of trick-or-treating. Don't chew your lip Kiddo

Writer's picture: anvuddsanvudds

Parents, please remind and make sure your child don't play with the numb cheeks and lips after dental work.

Something like this may happen.

Many kids do listen and follow instructions. Others do not. Kids are kids. Some kids scratch the cheek playfully. Some kids bite and chew hard.

The parents then come back worrying if the new dental work is causing issues (allergic reaction for example).

What I see most of the times is just the consequences of lip and cheek biting or chewing; and there is not much to do except cool compress and over the counter pain relieving gel. And wait.

Luckily, the area usually heals nicely within a few days.
